Hello, hello, and welcome back to another episode of Mommy on a Mission podcast. I'm your host, mariana. So yesterday you might have seen my post that says I quit. Well, the reason why I put that is because oftentimes we want to quit when things just aren't going right, and so sometimes I call that the season, the quitting season. And so, yeah, you heard me right, and this is for you, amiga, the woman that is just spinning their wheels and not getting anywhere. And so today I'm going to dive a little bit deeper into that post, why I wrote it, what's been going on here recently? So, as you may know that, I took a little bit of a break in the month of June and then, of course, I started the whole new episode seasons again last weekend and then, through it all, we had Hurricane Beryl come through and so we were without lights, and it's almost like when you're already feeling negative and then things like such as a hurricane happens and you see the aftermath of you know that storm looks like, and then you get through it and it's like you see the aftermath, right, and sometimes you're just like, oh my God, I don't, I don't even know what to do anymore, like what, what's going on? So that's why it's sometimes necessary to have a quitting season. So I'm going to talk to you a little bit about why it's necessary to have one, how to shift your mindset, to turn quitting into an empowering journey. So grab your cafecito, your pen and paper and we are going to dive deep into this matter. So what have I been going through lately? Frustration. I've been going through a lot of frustration, and why? Well, this month of July, mommy on a Mission LLC will be celebrating two years and in the two years, yes, I have done.

Speaker 1:

The first year I did a lot of networking. I met a lot of interesting people, folks who have become my coaches, who became my mentors, who are also supporting me through the process of the business as well, and I took what I knew, I took what information they gave me, the advice that they provided, some of the resources that they have utilized, and I launched my business out. So the first year was all about creating that foundation. The second year it was more about learning how to promote and market and although I did have book sales and even though I did have clients coming in, it really truly did not open the doors for clients. In the life coaching aspect it was more so the resumes and mock interviews and stuff. And here's the thing when I started Mommy on a Mission, the intention was never to have it be career coaching in the aspect of looking for employment, creating resumes, mock interviewing, cover letters, anything like that. It was not supposed to be for that, because that is what I do in the nonprofit world. That's a service that I provide to those who don't have the finances in order to be able to get those skillsets, and so that's what I've done in my career.

Speaker 1:

My goal, with Mommy on a Mission podcast, was to help multifaceted women to reignite their passion and their purpose for life, to get out of that stagnant cycle right and to revisit those things that they were passionate about and the struggles that they were going through. And I'm thinking about this, and I'm at that moment in my life right now where it's like, okay, I don't know what else to do. Should I and I did invest in a marketing strategist to help me with this, but it costs money, and I get it because I'm in the business of trying to build money as well and to build my business out. I am thankful, though, that I do have a full time job that I can fall back on, so I am working that, so I'm doing both, Like I'm working a full time position while I'm building out my business. So, for me, I had to think about it.

Speaker 1:

There was like no rush to hurry up and build out my business, and I don't mean that like oh, I want to hurry up and make money and I want to quit my job and stuff like that, because, fortunately for me, I love what I do in the nonprofit world, because, fortunately for me, I love what I do in the nonprofit world, but for me, in this business, I want to be able to really fully have a strong foundation and really put all of the components together in order for it to flourish. Well, my impatient self likes to see fast results, so it's like I was saying last week you know, this isn't a sprint, this is a marathon, and I also have to consistently remind myself of that. So, being an entrepreneur, although it can be incredibly rewarding, it can also be incredibly frustrating, because my business hasn't boomed like I envisioned it to my podcast, isn't reaching as many amazing women as I'd hoped that it would, and my books aren't flying off the shelves. So I felt like I was juggling all of these things. But I have to stop to remind myself of that season in my life when it felt like I was doing a lot, and that season was when I was juggling a full-time job, being a single mother and going back to college and I felt like, oh my God, like this is just so much. It just felt like the weight of the world was piling up on me, and I remember that I had to continuously remind myself that take your time. Take your time one day at a time. Just take it one day at a time.

Speaker 1:

And so I decided to quit, but not in the way that that I'm saying it. I had to quit that negative thinking and I needed to start focusing on the things that were going right. So, instead of saying I hate this job, I reminded myself that I'm thankful for this job. Instead of saying I'm tired of going to school, I had to tell myself that this is only temporary and that it's going to serve a purpose. And instead of feeling overwhelmed by single motherhood, I shifted my mindset to I'm blessed to have my children because they are a reminder of why I'm doing this. So that is the same mentality I had to have for my business.

Speaker 1:

So, before I go deep into all of this, I want to take the time right now to give a shout out to the sponsor of this episode, and that is the empower her purpose program. The empower her purpose program is a program that's included within the Mommy on a Mission curriculum. So it's for multifaceted women who will experience professional and personal growth by reigniting their passion and purpose without fear of external expectation, in just 12 weeks, with this transformative program. So if you're ready to take the next step in your journey, this program is for you. So now getting back to our discussion why quitting season is important. Well, it's essential to recognize that it takes discipline, tenacity and grit to achieve the life you want. Not everything will come easy and some challenges will make you question your decisions, but I mean, you don't have to face it all alone. I am so grateful for those who offer support, mentorship and guidance through my journey of building out this business.

Speaker 1:

However, just as I was wanting to quit this season of building out my business, I have been praying about it. I have been asking myself questions Okay, why am I? Why did I start this? Why did I want to start? Why did I launch off? Mommy on a mission? And here's the thing, amiga I started this because I want to be here to help you, the one who feels like she's lost her voice in this world, the one who feels like she's being unseen, the one that feels unheard, the one who feels like she's lost her voice in this world, the one who feels like she's being unseen, the one that feels unheard, the one that feels unappreciated, the one that feels undervalued, the one who gets tossed to the side.

Speaker 1:

Maybe you're struggling at your job and you feel like you're not advancing because no one is taking the time to look at you to see all of the great things that you have been able to accomplish on the job. Maybe you're going through a season of where you're being a mom and you're doing all of these things but you're forgetting about yourself, like you don't take the time to take care of yourself or enjoy things that you want to enjoy Starting a new craft, a hobby or maybe even building out your own business. Maybe you're in a marriage and you feel stuck in it because you are, you know, being abused. Maybe it's physical abuse, emotional abuse, verbal abuse, financial abuse, which a lot of people don't realize or talk about. Maybe you're in that season and you're thinking about you know, how do I get out of this? Or is this going to be my life? Because that was my mentality at Once Upon a Time was, if this is going to be my life, then help me accept that. But deep down inside. I knew that it wasn't because I knew that I deserved better. I knew that I deserved more. And so how many of you feel like you're in that, in that season? You're in that season that you just want to say, to hell with all of this, I'm done.

Speaker 1:

Maybe you know, like, like when you're so frustrated at work that you just want to put in your two week notice. So maybe you're feeling like you want to put your two week notice in your life, right, and how do? How do you navigate through all that? How do you go about that? So one of the things that I always recommend is journaling. Journal how you feel, do a self check on yourself.

Speaker 1:

That is one of the most powerful tools that I feel that anyone can get started with, because it doesn't cost much to get a piece of paper and a pen and write down your feelings, and you don't have to be perfect at it. No one has to read it, no one has to see it. You can just write your thoughts out. However you want to write it. It does not have to be perfect. It just has to be you providing yourself an avenue to release that that is within you that has been building up, maybe talking to a therapist, going to see someone that can help you with your emotional side, the mental setbacks that you've been having.

Speaker 1:

Or maybe you're holding on to things that occurred to you when you were a child and it's been carrying through and you find yourself probably in a similar situation as someone from your past. Maybe you want to start your own business, but in starting your own business, there's so much components to it that you feel like man, I don't even know why I even tried starting this. I need to just quit and just leave it alone, because this is just too much. And perhaps investing in the resources whether that be free resources, because there are free resources out there or maybe you just need to find people who have already built up this business, that are not going to hoard their knowledge and information and are willing to invest in you or pour back into you. So finding a mentor that's been where you've been and you can go ahead and get started with all of these things. So there's so many things that we can do in order to change that mindset, which is why I'm so glad that you know my program, the empower her purpose program. It is designed for you, it's designed for that woman that has so many things that she wants to accomplish and so many things that she wants to do, and you just don't have the direction to do it. So I want to just say that if that is you, amiga, then allow me to be a stepping stone in the resources that you need in order for you to receive the guidance that you need.

Speaker 1:

So during that moment where I wanted to just give up on my business, put my business to rest and say you know what? To hell with it, I can't do this anymore. After praying, I told God. I said you know what? I don't even feel like you're listening. I don't even think that you're hearing what I'm having to say. I don't even think that you care. And I'm being serious, because when I talk to God, I talk to him like my friend, because that's how he wants us to come to him. He doesn't want us to come to him with these big, powerful words. He wants us to have a conversation with him. And I did. I said hey, lord, look, I'm frustrated. Clearly you. You allowed me to have this business idea in my mind many, many years ago and you've allowed me to launch it out, and I've done everything that I possibly can and I've asked countless people to help me with this, and I just don't know what else to do. And if this business is not for me, then please, lord, I'm asking that you, please.

Speaker 1:

So, like I was saying, you know, um, I had been, you know, talking to God and telling him like, look, I don't, I don't know what else to do. And, lo and behold, I got an email stating that my application, so I had submitted an application for this entrepreneurship academy that is here local, and I said, okay, you know what, why not? And I don't remember exactly when I had applied for it Maybe it was in the spring sometime, to be honest with you, I didn't even remember it and I got a phone call telling me that they wanted to interview me, and so I had the interview and they were asking me all. So they felt like, wow, you know, you really are ahead of the game in this aspect. And I started asking them questions about the program and what I learned was that the Mortar Entrepreneur Academy it's a 15 week course that will equip me with the tools, resources and opportunities to pitch my business to potential funders.

Speaker 1:

So you see, when you quit that negative mindset and you allow for God to work behind the scenes and provide you with what you need to move forward, it will start to open up doors. Because the thing is is that we're so focused on that mindset of wanting to do it all ourselves that we slowly start to remove God from the equation because we've got that, I got this mentality right, and that's not always the case. So we want to remember that God will give you the signs, god will give you the resources. He would give you everything that you need in order for the things that you want to come to fruition. He doesn't place things in our heart and doesn't allow us to do things if he's not going to give us the way or the means to do it. So if you're in your quitting season and you're ready to shift that mindset, I encourage you to first of all follow me on Instagram or on TikTok or on Facebook, or even with this podcast. Leave me a review or tell me that you are ready by using the words I quit, and let's turn quitting into an empowering journey together.

Speaker 1:

Remember, finding balance is a journey, not a destination. Gain clarity to make confident decisions and take bold actions. To make confident decisions and take bold actions, and I'm going to leave you with this scripture that I think is something that will help. It is one that I've been revisiting time and time again within the last month or so, and it's from Jeremiah 29, 11. It says for I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.

Speaker 1:

So I'm so happy that you've all tuned in today to listen to another episode of Mommy on a Mission podcast, and, like I said, we're still going through this storm. I mean, well, the storm's over, but the aftermath, we're still having to deal with the aftermath, and you know people are without electricity, without food now and looking for places to stay, and so I ask that you please take the time to pray for the individuals that are still without power, that need food, that need shelter, Because if you've never gone through a hurricane, it can just leave some devastating things behind. And so I want to just say thank you once again for tuning in. Until next time, stay empowered, find your balance, gain the clarity in all that you do, and remember that you have the power within you.
