Speaker 2:

I'm super excited. I have an amazing guest for you who's not only going to inspire you but has a lot of wisdom to pour into you, and so I knew that I needed to bring her on in the beginning of the year. And she's also one of my amigas former clients so that typically happens. Whenever I have a client, it's like, oh, we're friends now, we're going to keep each other. But, mariana Monterubio, welcome to the Fearless Mujer podcast again. Hello.

Speaker 1:

Oh, my God, I'm so glad to be back on here because it's been a little while since you've had me on as a guest. But I know we're busy, girl. I know we're busy, but happy new year, by the way, happy new year.

Speaker 2:

Oh, we're busy girl. I know we're busy, but happy new year, by the way. Happy new year. Happy new year? Yeah, no, definitely. So one of the things that we are going to be talking about is just things that we learned in 2024, how to navigate a busy season. If you are a busy muhat, like definitely, this episode is really going to, I don't think, just inspire you, but really give you practical tips. I know Mariana always loves to give tips and just to help women right walk in their purpose and follow their goals and accomplish them, because that is literally the mission of Mommy on a Mission. So if you want to start there, mariana, and tell us more about your brand, Absolutely so.

Speaker 1:

Mami on a Mission, mujeres Alcanzando Metas Imposibles, it's pretty much a movement right. So I typically talk to a lot of women who have been through domestic violence, such as myself. I'm a survivor of domestic violence and oftentimes we feel that when we're in a situation such as that, we can't dream anymore, we can't move forward anymore. We pretty much freeze ourselves. Be a victim but a survivor.

Speaker 1:

You know I'm a victor because of God's good grace and how that has evolved over the last 20 years, that God placed it on my heart to start Mommy on a Mission, even when I didn't even know I needed to start it, and so what we do is we incorporate biblical principles into the coaching. But not only do we have coaching. So initially that's what it had started out at. It was just going to be life coaching. Over time it's evolved. You know I've got the podcast, thanks to you, micaela, because Micaela was my podcast coach. I became an author once again because of you know, seeing Micaela was my podcast coach. I became an author once again because of you know, seeing Micaela being able to accomplish being an author. I was able to go to your book launch two and a half years ago. Gosh, I can't believe it.

Speaker 2:

I know that's like. I'm like you're coming all the way from Houston. I was like, wow, that was so I'm like I have to keep her as my friend.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, man, and so and then, just, you know, getting connected and plugged into where? Now, Mommy on a Mission is not just about life coaching. It's a biblical life coaching because we're incorporating biblical principles. But we've I've got the book, I've got the podcast. We're doing um Cafecito y Amigas. We're going to talk a little bit more about that in a little bit. We're doing now a conference that's coming up. We're also going to talk about that, but just some amazing things that has opened up. And now we just kicked off on January 1st. We kicked off Amiga, are you ready to read your Bible Bible study group, which is on our Facebook group.

Speaker 1:

So I mean, Mommy on a Mission has really evolved and we're really building this huge community now of women just coming together, because, like I like to say is, we are about collaboration, not competition, because I know we need that, right, I know we need that, and so it's just been a lot of things, a lot of things. It's just it's floated into something that I didn't even imagine. And so it's just been a lot of things, a lot of things. It's just exploded into something that I didn't even imagine. I thought it was just going to be one on one coaching. Nope, it's more than that. I love it. That's what Mommy on a Mission is all about, girl, we're a movement.

Speaker 2:

We're moving forward. It sounds like you're going to need that building that you talked about with me. Just the way. I think the way God's aligning things and I actually told someone this morning that all it takes is that one yes that you give to the Lord and he just starts putting all the pieces together and it's just amazing to see, like, what you've been accomplishing.

Speaker 2:

I know, I know you're humble, but you forgot to mention your award that you won, that I mean you're doing all the things. So I am very honored to be your friend because you've seen me go through things in 2024, which I learned that there was a lot of trauma from childhood that was resurfacing Also due to other things that I went through. But you've been just someone that has been there for me. So thank you for that and you're that friend that, like this is what I love about and this is how you know they're your real friends and I think I have three real friends that I know of everyone else, like, I think that's where you learn, like, the importance of, like the people that really are your friends, like they're your friend for the right reason, if that makes sense. But, um, one of the things that I learned is, like you know, it's important to cultivate those. Uh, I actually lost my train of thought I apologize early in the morning, but when you cultivate, like, those friendships and they're your friends for the right reasons, it's such a beautiful thing. And so I just want to say thank you just for being that and even with your brand, like it shows how much you care about women and how much you want them to elevate right and be who they were created to be, and it's really a beautiful thing.

Speaker 2:

But, um, okay, so thank you, thank you for, uh, just like letting us know about your brand, and I think one of the really amazing things is like everything you went through, god really did use that for you to help others. Um, say that like it's good that we go through things or God wants us to go through bad things, but it's exactly what it says in Romans 8, 28, that God uses all things for our good, even the bad things. So, for the mujer out there, like I just feel to say this if you feel bad or shame around the things that you've gone through and you're letting that hold you back like don't, so I hope this episode is the episode that pushes you to be like I'm done feeling ashamed about that, but all that to say. All right, mariana, I'll just kind of just put it out there. What did you learn in 2024? Like it's 2025.

Speaker 1:

Hello, happy New Year, listen 2024 was truly, truly a season of growth and reflection. Let me just say that because I know that you and I have talked throughout the year 2024 and we were both on the fence together. Like that was one of the seasons that we were just kind of like both questioning a lot about should I continue the business? You know what? What's going busy? But just busy physically in general, just trying to figure out things, because it was like a lot, a lot just fell on on both of our plates, right, and I know that we would go, we would have conversations and we were just like going back and forth. You know, should we have the business? Should we drop the podcast? Should we? You know, I've got this job now I've got, you know, I'm working full time Plus I'm building this business and I don't know if I could do it all Um you becoming a single mom, you know me, just all these roles that just kind of fell into place and it was just like, okay, wait a minute, let's pause, let's pause for a minute, let's sit still for a moment and let's see what's gonna happen, right, and I think we both were in that moment where we had to, and I think this was the first time in both of our situations that we had several hiatuses on our podcast, like we would pause our podcast for a while and then come back just to let people know, hey, we're still here, and then we would pause again and not show up again. And that was just a decision to be made.

Speaker 1:

And I remember in July was it July? No, maybe it was June, june or so I was just like you know what I think I'm, just I don't know. I don't know if I could do this anymore. I don't even know. I haven't gotten any clients, you know. Just, things aren't moving the way I thought they were going to move. And then, boom, god just kind of showed up in that moment and reminded me to keep going. And how he did that actually was I had put out an application back in April or so to the Mortar Entrepreneurship Academy. Now, mind y'all, they're not sponsoring any of us here on the show, but I have to talk a little bit about them because God used them in a very powerful way to help me revamp Mommy on a Mission to what it is right now and really break it down.

Speaker 1:

And it was free. It was a free service that was afforded to me. So I had just invested partially invested in a marketing strategist and I love her dearly and she was giving us a lot of valuable information. But, to be completely honest, I just couldn't afford it. Lot of valuable information, but to be completely honest, I just couldn't afford it.

Speaker 1:

And I knew that I needed to make a shift in the business, but I wanted to continue on, but I just couldn't afford it. And I felt bad because I had said that I was going to commit to something and I couldn't commit because financially we just couldn't. And I said I'm so sorry, but maybe in the future I'll come back, you know, and that's when the Mortar Entrepreneurship Academy came about and for 15 weeks, the things that I was going to learn from a marketing strategist, I got God said here, I'm giving it to you, and it was through a scholarship to attend these courses for 15 weeks and then go before judges and pitch my business. And I went $500 and complete this course. That pretty much laid out a lot of the foundation. So I said, okay, god, it's obvious, you don't want me to stop there. I said, okay, god, it's obvious, you don't want me to stop there. Then at the same time. I get afforded an opportunity to join a biblical life coach school and became certified right at the same time, because I knew that I wanted God to be the center of my business. So I don't call it a business anymore, just a business, because I think I have a business and a ministry together. So now I call it a business tree because that's what it is. It's a business tree because I'm combining both and God has to be in the center.

Speaker 1:

So I learned to just sit still. The Bible tells us, right, be still and know that I am God because, yes, we're doing all of the footwork we're, we're just going, going, going, going. And sometimes I think we talked about this the other day that sometimes we feel like we need something tangible in our hands or something to look at to let us know that we are accomplishing some things that we need to accomplish, but we're just so wrapped up in the busyness that we lose sight of it. Right, and I think it's important that we we that we just pause for a moment find those moments to pause and just sit back and look and say, okay, you know, if you're anything like me, I have to have like a checklist, like I have all these things on my checklist and I have to, like, check it off just so that I can see that I'm actually doing something, right? Well, these things that I'm looking at are my checklist of letting me know that I was able to complete something and receive something and to show that I wasn't just being idle. And I think that's what happens to us women, right, that we feel like if we're not moving or if we're not doing, we're idle and we're not accomplishing anything. And it's just like and I and I want to say that it's perhaps because and I mentioned that to you too is that we hear that little voice inside.

Speaker 1:

I know, for me, that little voice that I would hear was nunca vas a acabar nada. And that was a voice that I heard as a kid, you know. Anytime I had these big dreams or these big aspirations or these things that I wanted to accomplish, I would hear ¿por qué lo quieres hacer? Nunca vas no, lo vas a terminar, you're never going to finish it. I don't know why you're dreaming, why are you even dreaming big? Those things don't even happen to us, you know, like that's not even for us. I would, I would listen to that voice and I had to stop and say wait a minute, what the heck? Look at all these things that I've been able to do because of God's grace and God's mercy and because of God's gift to me that I have been over the last 20 years. Look at all of these things that I've been able to do because of God, not because of what other people thought.

Speaker 1:

You know, just because other people tell you you can't do it, who are they? Because probably they can't. You know, and I've said this before, sometimes when people respond, they're responding out of themselves, out of their own fear, out of their own questioning of themselves. Right, and they and they project that onto us and so we learn how to hush that. Then we know, hey, we can do these things and, like you said, we need the right people.

Speaker 1:

And so, going back just a couple of years ago, when I was starting my business and I was doing the research, I stumbled because I was doing research about how to start or how to even do this business or what have you and I stumbled across your podcast and we've talked about the how. I was just listening to you and I would talk to you, like you know, like you were actually there in the room, which is great, because that's what you want. You want to be able to have some that, that information, that somebody's talking back or responding like, yes, I agree, and that's what you did for me. You know you. You allowed me to say wait a minute, here's this Chicana like myself. You know that's doing this thing, so why can't I? Right, and I reach out to you, we talk, you become my coach, you're inviting me to your book launch.

Speaker 1:

I'm seeing everything that's going on. I'm like, yes, this is what I've been looking for, this is what I've been wanting. Why? Because that was never something that we had. There was always competition amongst women, even amongst and I'm going to say this because I'm going to boldly say, because I'm going to be very real about this Even amongst our own families, my mother. There was competition, and I shared this very personal thing with you the other day and it was like how, years ago, because of the type of person that I am and how I move and how I operate, that my own mother said that she was jealous of me because of how strong headed I was and how much of a risk taker that I was, that instead of embracing that and encouraging that she would get mad at me and put me down or tell me that I was never going to finish or accomplish anything, because that was her fear.

Speaker 1:

That was her fear. And so, yes, 2024 came with a lot of growth, came with a lot of faith involved. My prayer life grew. My family, we found a home church together. My daughter was baptized, my son prayed with his assistant principal, my husband and my son are about to get baptized themselves. So there was a lot of great things that, when I thought it wasn't going to be good, 2024 said, nope, look what I got. And so now I'm excited about 2025, because now it's just going to all kind of like fall into the pieces are going to fall together now, and that's what I'm looking forward to.

Speaker 2:

I love that and I resonated so much with what you said. And you know, one thing that I was thinking about is, you know, I can, I can resonate with, like not having the ideal air quotes, right Relationship with your mom. It causes you to kind of have a different lens when it comes to, you know, women and friendship, because that's not something that I know of right, like that friendship with your mom. So I think, even with that, like you know, I believe in spiritual warfare, but I think the enemy can use that, even as a little girl, to plant that seed that, like, women aren't safe. And then that's where, you know, competition happens and I think, like that's a whole episode in itself. But you know, I was just thinking as, as you were sharing that that's something that I have learned Like, once those seeds are planted in your heart as a little girl, we sometimes don't realize that as grown women, we still are carrying that little girl around with that lens and that's why you know, healing is so important.

Speaker 2:

But, yeah, I love how, like, everything is coming full circle and this is why those things that we have on our hearts to do, they are important, they matter. There's sometimes God assignments that like, hey, this thing that I'm having you do this passion project as I'm calling it, hey, this thing that I'm having you do this passion project as I'm calling it, right, as I just feel like you know that's a great way to put it. You don't know what that's going to do, where that's going to take you. At the same time, we're evolving. The things we're doing are evolving, which is why you started Mommy on a Mission as one thing and now it's totally evolving into something completely different. Why? Because God, all it takes is one yes for him to put all the pieces together, but of course we don't. We don't see it in the moment, right, but what I learned in 2024 is that it, your environment matters Yep, your environment really matters, and you have to be so careful of who is speaking into you. You have to be so careful.

Speaker 2:

And one thing I really did learn, too, is I really have to guard my heart like I never. I knew what that meant, but I never really understood it the way I understand it now, because sometimes, especially where I, I really believe that and I don't want to sound like weird and UAG, right, Because I don't align to that, but I really believe that coaches and people that are doing work like us even the types of podcasts that you and I have, mariana we are like modern day healers, right, but in a different way, because you know, we bring Jesus into the mix, right, which is the only kind of true healing you're ever going to get. But I learned that while we try to heal other people, while we try to, you know, heal up their wounds internally, spiritually, guess what? Sometimes they bleed all over us. We're not God. We cannot rescue people and you know, I learned some hard lessons in 2024, but it also made me realize that hold on a second.

Speaker 2:

There's a lot of triggers that I have here. What is going on. So I realized that there was a lot of trauma work that I needed to do. You know, I've I've openly talked about I'm in trauma therapy because there are a lot of childhood wounds, there are some things that surface. But I really believe that you know and I've mentioned that here, like I wasn't a toxic relationship. If I hadn't gone through that, I wouldn't have learned like okay, I wouldn't have learned like okay. God obviously wants me to take care of these things so that I can become a better me.

Speaker 2:

And yeah, like I started to work full time, which when you're running a business full time and you go to working full time and now the business just you have to kind of prioritize that a little different. It's a big adjustment. It is a big like, oh my God, everything just changed. But I'm grateful because I really believe that God has my life in the palm of his hand and so it's. It's been a season of, like, ultimate trust, right, and also learning that man, I am a badass. I'm sorry, like I'm just going to say it not to not to like be conceited or arrogant, but like when you can go through stuff, right, like when you can go through stuff and it's really hard and you're in a moment of like I never thought I would be here Like my car was messed up.

Speaker 2:

I didn't have a car for months. My business just totally went. You know, I don't even know what was going on. I invested in a coach that I did not feel aligned to whatsoever. She threw in like a bonus podcasting course and I got on there and I'm like this is like for new people and not to be like arrogant at all, but I'm just like this is not what she said it was going to be. I invested in another coach that, at the same time, like, the relationship that I was in really did not allow for the way that I was used to operating as a woman Right, that's the best way I could put it Like the way that I poured into my passion projects, the way that I had reached success.

Speaker 2:

It was the way that I was used to doing things. I am not uh, you know, I don't want to say I'm not a soft woman, cause I'm kind, but I am an alpha. And if you don't understand that, like, I don't know what to tell you, because this is how my father taught me to be, and not just my earthly father, but my spiritual father, my heavenly father, right, like my heavenly father, has taught me to be a leader, to be an Esther, to speak up, to rise up and I think that that intimidates people at times to rise up, and I think that that intimidates people at times. But I think that that's why we have to be very careful who we are allowing ourselves to be around, because men or women, right, if they don't understand those qualities about you, they will start to make you feel bad for being you kind of like you're talking about, you know, with your mom. So anyway, it kind of went down a rant there. But I learned a lot in 2024. Yeah, no.

Speaker 1:

I mean honestly, and you mentioned something you know that God knows how to pair people up together, especially the right people. Like you said, you know, me being in, you know cause, when I first started out two and a half years ago, me being in, you know, cause, when I first started out two and a half years ago, my husband actually, um, opened up that door for me to be able to kind of like kick it off for six months without having to have a job, just completely focused on on the business aspect, building it out and stuff. But, um, financially it was becoming, you know, very, very hard after a while. You know, it's like no business is coming in on my part, you know, because I'm building something out. So my husband and I had to make that decision of you know what I need to go back to work, and I didn't know how I was going to do it. So I was one year ahead of you in that aspect, because now I've got, I'm working full time running, I try to run and operate this business, building it out and involving myself in a lot of things. That is part of it, because we get called to speak at events, we get a call to, you know, participate in things and stuff like that. So we get called and pulled because as we're building, we're networking, and so people learn about us, and then they're asking us and inviting us, and you know, to participate in things. That it becomes like, where do you find your footing, like, where's that balance?

Speaker 1:

And so when, when you were going through that season of gosh, I don't know, I don't know how to do this. I don't you know like I'm working full time, you're going to school. I don't know how to do this. I don't you know like I'm working full time, you're going to school, you're by yourself. You know, you're trying to find your way. And it was like all of these things fell on top of you like at one time, right, and what I wanted to be, what I wanted was to just be a sounding board for you in those moments and just let you just unload and stuff. And then it's like, okay, you know, we heard each other and I was like, well, you know, this is how I had to do it, this is what I've been doing. You know, maybe some of those things will help you out or whatever, but it was never to say, oh my God, you know, just give it up. No, we always said you know what, let's pray about it, let's see what God has to say about it.

Speaker 1:

And and I think I shared this with you the other day was that I was listening to your podcast and it reminded me of day one of when I first heard it. I'm talking to you and I was like no, ma'am, you got to keep going. You have to keep going, girl. You have to keep going because you have that gift. You have that gift of talking to women. You have that gift and what's the thing about the beauty of it all is that we are not perfect women. We are real skin and bone women. Right, we're real women that are still fallen sinners, that are still trying to make it that have. You know, roughness still come at us and everything, and we have to bring each other out of that ditch that we fall into.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

You know we're not supposed to be keeping each other down. It's like the word says. You know, iron sharpens iron. We have to be there for one another and that's what're not supposed to be keeping each other down, it's like the word says. You know, iron sharpens iron. We have to be there for one another and that's what I want it to be for you in that season, just like you were there for me at the very beginning of where I was at right, because you had the experience and you had the expertise in a certain area.

Speaker 1:

And when you fell in the season of what you went through, I knew exactly where you were going, because I had already experienced it 20 years ago. And that's the beauty of finding the right people in your life. God knew you were going to be friends. God knew two and a half years ago that we were going to be in each other's lives and it's crazy how it all happened. But he knew that I needed to be put in position for, when this situation occurred, for you to have someone that could identify with what was going on, and we all need that with what was going on, and we all need that, which brings me to just this past December, you know, going to Perth, amboy, new Jersey, because I through the Book Publishing Academy that we were both part of or part of.

Speaker 2:

And shout out to Janine Hernandez yes, Janine.

Speaker 1:

She's awesome. But, you know, having that scholarship for four young ladies, hispanic girls that were able to write, publish their books, and me being a mentor, and God allowed me to be the very person that I wish I had when I was a teenager. When I was a teenager, someone to tell me that you can accomplish dreams, someone that looked like me, that talk like me, that you know, a Hispanic that knew, knew the culture and everything, and that had a single mom raising her. You know, pouring in to this young lady, mentoring her as she wrote her book. She wanted to quit, she wanted to give up, but I was her coach, I was there pushing her and her mentor, rather pushing her and motivating her and encouraging her.

Speaker 1:

Like no, and here's a crazy thing is that she had one friend that was part of it and her friend dropped out and I had said I said you know what Her friend dropped out, that's going to give her the reason or the excuse to want to drop out too. And they were like how do you know? I was like watch, and it happened. And I told her. I said listen, don't give up. Don't give up. Your friend. Probably wasn't for her at this time, but it's probably for you. So stick with it. Stick with it, you know, don't give up, just keep going. It's going to be hard, it's not going to be easy, because school's going to start, you're going to have school, you're going to have homework and then you're writing this book and stuff.

Speaker 1:

When I got to see her in December, she was like I'm so glad that you didn't give up. I mean, I'm so glad that you pushed me, because now here she is a published author. Her book is Amazon. They had a book launch that was beautiful. But all of that I'm saying because I wish I had that right. And so we, as mujeres, need to be that person for someone else. Because when we can be that person for someone else, we nurture, we cultivate, but we help them plant those seeds and we allow for God to allow it, for it to grow right into what it is. We're just a tool, we're just a vessel that God is using in that timeline. So we need to be the very people that what we need. We need to be that for that person.

Speaker 2:

Yes, I love that. I love that so much, mariana, and I love your boldness and just you know your rawness, your realness, right that, yes, we are women of faith, we're Latinas, but you're right, we're real women and this is why I love just having a space where you can. It's a safe space. We can talk about these things, right. We can talk about the hard things, we can talk about the real things that happen. It's part of the story and part of the journey, and so I just love everything that you've been doing and how you've been growing. And I did want to ask you, because you have been inspired to start a conference, yes, so tell us, tell us more about about that.

Speaker 1:

So May 2nd um in Dickinson, texas, I'm going to host my very first women's conference. It's called she's Bold, um, and what it is is that it's truly about us walking in our boldness, in confidence, walking into that purpose that God has called each and every one of us to walk into right. We're saved, we're healed and we're evolving, which is what she stands for, you know saved, healed and evolved. Because that's what it needs to be about. We need to have that boldness to embrace these new seasons in our life, have the boldness to declare our faith in God, to have the boldness to say we're not perfect. To have the boldness to say that, yes, I make mistakes. To have the boldness to say, yes, I need help. To have the boldness to say that, yes, I make mistakes. To have the boldness to say, yes, I need help to have the boldness to just to speak out and speak up. And what it's centered around is healing, self-discovery and walking in confidence, which is what my book Mommy on a Mission was all about. It's a guide towards healing, self-discovery, walking in confidence, and so we wanted to bring that same concept into she's Bold, because we need to understand and know that we're all in a healing process, regardless. We may feel like, oh, we're completely healed, there's nothing wrong with us, but that's not entirely true, because there are some things from our past that will sneak up on us and haunt us. Some things from our past that will sneak up on us and haunt us, and so we need to identify, as it comes around, that all of the things that we have gone through, all of the things that we have healed from, just because this one thing pops up doesn't mean we throw it all away. We have to embrace those things that we did learn and apply it into that one thing that just all of a sudden pops up. We did learn and apply it into that one thing that just all of a sudden pops up, rediscovering ourselves.

Speaker 1:

Because this was a season of rediscovering, like, for instance, for you, micaela, you know, rediscovering this new role of being a single mom, of walking on that journey right. And for me too, you know, this is a new season in my life where I am 50 years old. I am a 50-year-old senora, 50 years young. Look, I'm on this podcast. Y'all can't see it, but I've got a towel on my head, drinking my coffee and my eat fun. And I'm just here, you know, letting you know that we're all in a season of rediscovery.

Speaker 1:

You know, every year we are discovering something new about ourselves, and that's what it needs to be about is to learn how to stop for a moment and find what our passions are. You know, sometimes we get so caught up in the busyness of life that we forget what our passions in life are, or what God wants us to do. What dreams did we have buried and hidden right? And then, lastly, you know, just walking in confidence, knowing that we don't have to walk with our heads down looking at the ground or, you know, isolating ourselves in a room. No, let's walk out in confidence and declare you know what? Yeah, I'm going through a rough season in my life, but guess what? I am going to come out here confidently, like I got it all together when I really don't. But I'm going to come out here and I'm going to show this world that you are not going to knock me down, because the enemy wants that. Especially if you are a woman of faith, the enemy is going to want to come and knock you on your feet and whisper those things that would haunt you from your past. And we've got to boldly say shut up, enemy, shut up, shut up, because my God is much bigger than you are. The victory has already been won and this is my season. This is my season to go out and declare my love for God, my faith, and go out there and start talking to other women, because we have been commissioned to disciple other women. We have been commissioned to disciple other women. We have been commissioned to disciple and to spread God's word, and he is using our experiences to do just that. So, if you are in the area, the tickets are already on sale on Eventbrite and I will share that link to Micaela, but it's she's Bold in Dickinson, texas, may 2nd. So if you are wanting to experience a ladies night like no other, then you need to come out to the she's Bold Women's Conference. We're going to have a great time. We're going to have three great speakers talk, we're going to have a wonderful worship leader that's going to come out and set the tone. So this is exactly something.

Speaker 1:

So it was actually meant to have been taken place in November of last year, but again, you know, god said no, not. Yet he had me. I mean, it was like a complete fault and so I did what I had to do, and then, right when, in November, when I was getting ready to be done, he says okay, it's time, go ahead and put the deposit. And I was like, I don't even have no money, but I'll put the deposit down, and I know that God's going to provide, god's going to give away, and it's going to be an amazing event.

Speaker 1:

I can already envision the women that are going to be freed from things that have been haunting them, that are going to be delivered from whatever it is that they need to be delivered from. But I just know that this is the time and the season for it, and so this is what we're about. We're about empowering women, we're about talking to women about who Jesus Christ is and what he has done for us, and just really stepping out in faith into those new chapters in our lives, and that's something that I feel that we all need right, and so God's called me to do that. So here we're going to go ahead and go forward. Go and just get it done. We're going to go do it and we're going to go forth, and I know that God is going to use that to just open up more doors, more doors.

Speaker 2:

Yes, I love that. Well, thank you for that, and I really encourage women to come on out because, you know, yes, we can listen to podcasts Don't stop listening to mine or Mariana's we can read books. We can do all of that. But you know, one thing for me is key this year that I have to be very intentional, and I think, for those who are busy women right and juggle a lot, you know that you have to be intentional with your time, like there is no time to waste. So, with that being said, it's oftentimes when we go to places like this and spaces where there are safe women, women that are celebrating you, those spaces are exactly where, like you said, iron sharpens iron.

Speaker 2:

And you know, even if you're someone who maybe you know you're like, well, I don't really have a relationship with God, or I left the church or whatever the case may be, like this isn't a churchy thing, like I can tell you that this is really a real thing, cause I know Mariana, I know her heart behind things. Um, you're all about the stories and, uh, just really bringing women together. Uh, because a lot of times, yeah, it is, it is our testimony, it is the things that we go through that allows other women to see, like, ok, I'm not alone. So if you've been in a hard season, you want to start the year right, like, I encourage you to come out because you're not going to regret it and you never know who you're going to meet at events like that. But I'll have all of the links in the show notes. I'll add everything in there. Um, and I definitely want to just say you know, thank you, mariana, just for being so transparent. Uh, please check out Mariana's podcast.

Speaker 2:

Mommy, on a Mission, like, if you need encouragement and, uh, you need someone to speak into you, right? That big sister that, like you never had, that, would like give you that real talk, authenticity, love, grace. She's the one. Anything else you want to share, mariana?

Speaker 1:

Yes, just one last thing. So I wanted to talk briefly about Cafecito y.

Speaker 2:

Amigas. Okay, we have our cafecito here too, by the way.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, we do. We have our Cafecito yamigas. So, as many of you all know, because if you're following Micaela and you followed her for quite some time you'll often hear her talk a lot about cafecito y amigas. You know, cafecito y amiga chat, you know, let's have our virtual chats, our virtual hangouts, and so I love that concept and, and and I've got to say this I love the concept behind it because I know the story behind it. You know, and it was a story that I definitely identified with, because it's so very true. You know, cafecito is like the trademark of Latina women.

Speaker 2:

La señora.

Speaker 1:

Girl, la señora, is with a towel on her head, like myself, you know, coming together and sharing their stories, sharing their. You know what it is that they're going through. You know just that sisterhood and which is what our, both of our businesses are built off on is is that, is that cup of coffee that brings it all together right To just kind of come together. So I loved her concept so much and so this is where I talk about, where collaboration and that competition takes place, because and I shared this on my podcast, so if you heard it on Saturday then you heard that I talked a little bit about Cafecito y Amigas, that I have a Facebook group called the Mommy on a Mission, cafecito y Amigas.

Speaker 1:

The reason why I called it that way is because I didn't want to take anything away from Micaela. And I actually called Micaela and I came to her and I asked her for permission. I said, hey, I know that you have Cafecito y Amigas in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. I said would you mind if I use the same concept, that same name and bring it down here? And she was like girl go ahead.

Speaker 1:

But the reason why, and many people would be like well, why did you ask her for permission? You know what?

Speaker 2:

Because I don't. Well, let me just say that I didn't take it as like you were asking me for permission. I was. I took it more like hey, micaela, what do you?

Speaker 1:

think, well, yeah, no, and so yeah, but for me it was my way of asking for permission, right, because that this was your baby, this is something that you birthed out, and I didn't want to take that away from you. So we collaborated in the sense that you know what? Let's have two chapters. You have the original one out there and I've got the Galveston Houston chapter down here, right, and the cool thing about it is and you and I had talked about it already is connecting our virtual hangouts together so that we can have this one big cafecito y amiga virtual hangout together, and that's where the beauty of collaboration comes into place. And so we now have that here in the Galveston Houston area.

Speaker 1:

We started out with three the first month. We started out with three the first month, we started out with three the second month, and then we both adopted the concept of having prayer board events, and I think we both had really good numbers at both of our events. But it was just the beauty of having that, you know, and we had it at an actual coffee shop. You know, there was a room and stuff, but I think that's just another way of showing that it's not just about, you know, just coming on a podcast talking about you know just things, or a conference, or you know a coaching client or whatever. It's about building that community of the women that we need in our lives, of having just women that can understand what we're going through, having other women part of your building new friendships, because oftentimes I know for you, michaela I know that you've said this before and I'm saying it now we lose people.

Speaker 1:

We lose people in our lives. We lose people who think that in their mind they say, oh well, now she thinks she's better than me. Or oh look, she's so busy for us she doesn't have time for us. Oh look, you know, cause we're both authors. Oh yeah, she wrote a book and so now she's probably smelling herself or whatever expression these young kids use, you know, but it's, it's those, it's that, it's that mentality, especially when it's someone who is going through some things, and so when we can stop and understand that they're going through some hardships.

Speaker 1:

You know, our heart extends grace, right, our heart can extend grace, and maybe we're not who they need in this season in life, but maybe there's going to be somebody else out there that is, and then, who knows, that person may eventually come up, because I've had people that have come to me and said you know what I'm sorry for.

Speaker 1:

You know, for some time I, you know, convinced myself of this story that you were better than me or whatever, and I truly see now that you're not. You know that you're not trying to be that person that you're really, truly wanting to pour back into me or you want to help me or whatever. So that's all of that to say, that's what Cafecito y Amigas has been for me. You know, just the sharing of stories coming around that cup of coffee, like Micaela said, and just abuelitas sharing their stories, their comadres talking to one another and just having a time, a time to just do whatever it is with that cup of coffee and just spending some time. So I just wanted to say that, because that's something that we have adopted as well and we have been loving it, and I actually shared it on at the prayer group why it's called Cafecito y Amigas and I gave you the shout out and said why I was able to adopt that. So thank you for no thank you that year and extended here.

Speaker 1:

So, girl, yes, so it's.

Speaker 2:

I heard you say you're having cafecito at your conference I am girl, that's what I heard yes, ma'am, we're gonna have cafecito. We need a sponsor for we need a sponsor. I don't know, maybe need a sponsor.

Speaker 1:

I don't know. Maybe I'll get the people that I've been hosting the event at. Maybe I'll go reach out to say, hey, we're having a women's conference because they are faith-based.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I think that sounds like a good pairing. But I wanted to just kind of touch really quick on what you shared, and earlier I lost my train of thought and it came back. That's what happens when you are over 40 and you know it's my mom brain, right, but Saturday is a day that we're recording, on Saturday, guys, but that is a day that my brain slows down. So it's wonderful because all week I'm just going going talking to students. But all that to say, what I was going to share with you, is that you're that friend, mariana, that we can be so busy. A month, two months can pass, and, yes, we're liking our stuff on social media, but then we just text each other like hey, you got time, you know, and so you're that friend. And there's been many occasions when we're talking right Privately and I'm like you should make an episode about this, like this is so good, hello, and I think we I had told you that and you're like, oh, yeah, this is the episode for, you know, saturday. And I'm like, oh, like, okay, so I need to go here and so that was pretty fun. That's the perks of having podcast your friends. But all that to say, like you know many times being a little girl, going with my grandma, my mom and then, like even some of my aunts, wherever we were, because my grandma used to love eating out. You know I'm named after my grandma, micaela rest in peace, and they used to call her Doña Mica. So actually there is one person who was my client who calls me Doña Mica and I'm like girl, you're making me feel like my grandma, but I love it, because my grandma was Chicago, where there's all kind of good food, but they would just pour their heart over cafecito and the waitress would bring more cafecito and you know they'd cry, sometimes laugh, and it's what I saw as a little girl and so I think that that's typically too like. I remember my sister, my sister in law, would come over when I had my house and I was married and I would brew the coffee and pour, and you know this. This past holiday, during Christmas, I got to go visit my brother and his family and what were we doing? My sister in law was making me coffee and we were talking and sharing our hearts and it's, I think it's just the thing of us Latinas that we do. It's a routine, it's a pattern, it's our comfort and there's something special that happens when we have that cafecito and we're talking and it's such a beautiful moment and I think that if, if we really excuse me if we really kind of looked at how we bond through our stories, how we strengthen each other through our stories, it's beautiful.

Speaker 2:

I am glad that you are doing Cafecito and Amigas in your area because, number one, like we have to be like Jesus sometimes and bring the things to the people. We have to be the one that goes to the people, if I could say it that way, it's a way of displaying our servant leadership. But also, like, sometimes, when you do those things and you use cafecito, right, I know like one time God led me to this church for prayer because I kept seeing the free food sign. I think I might've shared that with you and I'm like man, god, you know, like like kind of bring me in right with the free food. So sometimes we need those tools like cafecito to gather, to allow women to feel comfortable, to open up. So it's not a meaningless thing is what I wanted to say, but I'm glad you're doing it Like, I'm very excited. I wish I lived closer to you.

Speaker 1:

Well, and you'll actually you'll be here in, because Micaela is going to be the emcee for she's Bold, and so she's going to get to experience the cafecito near.

Speaker 2:

Galveston.

Speaker 2:

Yes, I'm going to emceec so hopefully I'll make everybody laugh and hype it up and make it fun. Yeah, goofy mariana knows like I am goofy, um, my sister-in-law took pictures for me. Uh, this is totally random, I know you and I talked about that and she knows, like I'm not, um, I'm not a serious like I can. I can be serious, but I prefer to be myself and that is like hey, let's lighten, lighten the mood, let's laugh, let's do some icebreakers, and so I'm hoping that I can at least bring that aspect to like the funness, the energy, the hey guys, let's, let's get excited about this. So I'm super excited for your event. Again, I will have all the links in the show notes. Anything else, mariana, that you want to add? I know that you and I girls we could talk forever, and we've done that.

Speaker 1:

So, no, you know what I think? I think we shared quite a bit of just, you know, our past conversations and stuff, and, like I just want to say, you know, let 2025 be your year, cause I just feel it in my heart that God is calling for some amazing and explosive things that's going to happen, and when I mean explosive, I mean just some great, great, great things that are going to come out. I do believe that God has his hands on his children and that he is going to bless women, people, in such an amazing way, and we're going to see a lot of revival happening, and so I'm just excited about 2025. I'm just excited to see what's going to happen. Yeah, so I'm just looking forward to it, because I don't I'm just one that doesn't like to do what's called resolutions, because, you know, we all say we're going to lose weight, we're going to do this, and then, you know, I started my membership, I went twice already and we're on day four and I only went twice.

Speaker 1:

So, and so you know that happens, but I think it's about more. So just committing, you know, just committing to some things, and the rest will fall into place. So I'm I'm I'm not where I want to be yet, but as far as my weight is concerned, but if I keep eating this fun and this coffee, I don't know if I'm ever gonna get there so I'm just gonna girl well, you look good.

Speaker 2:

I need to stop eating tacos and barbacoa, because that's what I do.

Speaker 1:

My comfort food. No ma'am, no ma'am. I can't do that. I can't not the barbacoa I have.

Speaker 2:

It's not the devil, I'm sorry girl.

Speaker 1:

Anyway, we're so latinas, so mexican time but no, no, no, no, but yeah, I just embrace it. You know, embrace it. And I know that both of our podcasts are just going to come with a lot of great new topics and information because, like michaela said, we're we're continuously evolving, we're growing, we're changing and things happen. And we're continuously evolving, we're growing, we're changing and things happen. And so we're going to be talking about those very things that are happening in our own lives, because I think a lot of women are going to resonate with that. You know, I think a lot of women are going to resonate that changes happen and sometimes we don't like those changes, but we have to learn how to embrace them and and just you know, go for it, uh, full force and stuff.

Speaker 2:

So yeah, yeah, I love it. Oh, my God, okay, this was a great conversation. I'm like, oh, I could talk about more, but, uh, we're going to let you listeners go, cause my, you don't know me. And Mariana, we can, we can talk, um, uh, so I'll have everything in the show notes. And where can they go for more resources from Mommy on a Mission? Please like direct them.
