Speaker 1:

Good morning, amiga, and welcome back to another episode of the Mommy on a Mission podcast. I'm your host, mariana, and today we are exploring a topic that we all struggle with negative thoughts. You know those sneaky little lies that try to plant themselves in our minds, making us doubt who we are, what we're capable of and even how much God loves us. But, amiga, we are not about to let those thoughts win. Nope, today we're taking authority over our minds and learning how to fight back with the truth of God's word. The scripture that I want to focus on today is from 2 Corinthians, 10 5. That says we destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ. That verse, right there, tells us we have the power to capture and redirect our thoughts. So, amiga, grab your cafecito, get comfy and let's unpack how we can start winning this battle in our minds. Welcome to the Mommy on a Mission podcast. Speaker 1:

Okay, girl, let's be real. Our minds can be a battlefield. Have you ever caught yourself thinking I'm not good enough, I'll never get past the struggle, God must be disappointed in me and nothing ever works out for me. Does that sound familiar? Yep, but let me tell you this those are lies straight from the enemy, and his goal is to keep us stuck in fear, insecurity and doubt. The enemy is an opportunist. He waits for the perfect moment, when we're exhausted, overwhelmed or discouraged, to plant those thoughts in our minds. Like you are so tired and you're laying in bed and you're trying to go to sleep and then, all of a sudden, things start popping up in your mind, right, and then next, what's next? We start to feel anxious, we start to feel overwhelmed, we start to overthink things. I mean, it's like so much going on, right, and so that's why it's so important to compartmentalize what voices we allow to influence us, because if we don't, then we're going to allow those voices that control your life will also control your mind. Are you listening to the enemy or are you listening to God? That's something that we need to be asking ourselves.

Speaker 1:

And before I keep going on, I just want to say full disclosure. Here I am in a new office space and I know it sounds echoey. So someone mentioned why do you sound? Know it sounds echoey. Someone mentioned why do you sound like you're echoey in the background the last couple of episodes? Well, the thing is is that I moved into a little office space and we haven't gotten the soundproof system up yet. So we're working on that and thank you so much for just hanging in there with me, but I just wanted to continue to come out here and, you know, provide you a little drops of wisdom, okay, anyway.

Speaker 1:

So, like I was saying, now I want to take this back all the way to the book of Genesis. Now imagine if Eve had rebuked the enemy for feeding her lies. How different would her story have been Like if she would have said nope, I am not going to eat that apple, because my husband told me that I was not supposed to touch that. I'm not going to eat it. Like we wouldn't be where we are today, right, like this would not even be a topic of conversation. But unfortunately, that's not how it went and we see how that ended. Right, it ended in brokenness, in separation and consequences. So we have to keep guard over what and who we allow to speak untruth into our lives.

Speaker 1:

I can recall times in my life where I felt like I was a huge disappointment to my children and family due to the choices I had made and I made plenty and I believed I was being punished for all my mistakes. I truly did. But then again, I also had an upbringing that told me that if you know if I lie, if I do this or whatever, god's going to punish me. The truth is is that God is a loving God. But I was looking at I had two filled marriages. I felt like I felt doomed to never experience a happy marriage ever in my life. But by God's loving grace, I have been remarried and my husband and I have been together for 16 years. So I know now that that was a lie from the enemy. Yes, I had two past failed marriages, but you know what God can break that when we start putting our faith into him and we start believing his truth right, then we're going to see those changes.

Speaker 1:

Now don't get me wrong. Marriage isn't always easy. We have our ups and downs, like everyone else, but through prayer and faith in God, we have learned to work through our struggles. I had to rebuke y'all. Sorry, my dogs are out here barking, acting a fool I think somebody just got here. But anyways, I had to rebuke those negative thoughts and allow God to show me that he had a better plan for me. So if you've ever believed that your past mistakes define your future, let me tell you right now that's a lie. God's grace is bigger than any failure and he is in the business of redemption.

Speaker 1:

So how do we actually fight these negative thoughts? Well, here are some practical and biblical steps to help you. Take your thoughts captive, because I'm not going to come on here and not talk to you with God's truth, right? So number one we've got to recognize our lives. Pay attention to the thoughts that pop into your head. Ask yourself is this in alignment with what God says about me? And if it's not, it's got to go.

Speaker 1:

Romans 12, 2 says don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Number two replace the truth. Number two replace the truth. Find a scripture that speaks against that negative thought and declare it over yourself. For example, if you feel unloved, romans 8, 38, 39 says nothing can separate me from God's love. Or if you feel like a failure, philippians 4, 13 says I can do all things through Christ. You've got to speak life over yourself. Our words have power. What we speak over ourselves shapes our reality. If we keep feeding ourselves negativity, guess what? We're giving it permission to take root. But when we declare God's truth, we are reinforcing the victory that is already ours in Christ.

Speaker 1:

So today I want you to start your day because it's Saturday morning. We're up, we're drinking our cacatito. You know we're here, we're listening to this, but I want you to start your day by affirming God's truth over your life. I want you to say I am chosen, I am loved and I have purpose. Proverbs 18, 21 says that the tongue can bring death or life.

Speaker 1:

Those who love to talk will reap the consequences. You know, like the chismas, yeah, you know, they're always talking and talking and talking. Well, guess what? It's going to backfire, right? So I mean we've got to choose life, choose to speak words that align with God's promises, not the lies of the enemy. You've got to pray and surrender. Give those thoughts to God. When worry, doubt or fear creeps in, we've got to pray. When worry, doubt or fear creeps in, we've got to pray. Here's another scripture Philippians 4, 6, and 7. Don't worry about anything. Instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done.

Speaker 1:

So I want you to take a moment to reflect, ok, and I want you to ask yourself these questions. What negative thoughts have been weighing you down lately? What truth from God's word can you use to replace those thoughts? And how can you be more intentional about guarding your mind daily? If you journal because I know I do I want to encourage you to write these down and spend some time with God reflecting on them. So one more time what negative thoughts have been weighing you down lately? What negative thoughts have been weighing you down lately? What truth from God's word can you use to replace those thoughts, and how can you be more intentional about guarding your mind daily? So I want to pray with you today. Okay, thank you for your truth that sets us free.

Speaker 1:

Lord, I lift up every mujer listening right now who is battling negative thoughts. I pray that you remind her that she is loved, that she is chosen and that she is equipped for every good work. Help us to take every thought captive and align it with your word. Give us the strength to reject the lies of the enemy and replace them with your promises. We surrender our minds to you today and ask for your peace to cover us In Jesus' name. Amen, to cover us In Jesus' name, amen.

Speaker 1:
